COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

At First Capital Bank, we believe that the great state of Virginia is made even stronger through the caring and dedicated volunteer service of individuals and businesses alike. We are grateful for the opportunity to join with others in our community who keep Central Virginia's great volunteer spirit alive and growing.

First Capital touches the community in a variety of ways, but our employees and our customers are proudest of our annual “Stuff the Bus” campaign. For the past six years, we have appeared at area Wal-Marts throughout the month of August to collect much-needed school supplies and donations that benefit children in our area. Through our work this year with Henrico Education Foundation, we were able to support 560 children from nine different elementary, middle and high schools identified as most in need. Also benefitting from this year’s effort were over 100 children from St. Joseph’s Villa and more than 2,000 children touched through donations placed through the William Byrd Community House, Hilliard House, Chesterfield Public Education Foundation and Market Ashland Partnership.

First Capital Bank’s “Stuff the Bus” program started in 2008 and in its first year primarily benefited the YMCA Bright Beginnings Program. Since then, each and every year, we’ve been able to support several local organizations and foundations that ensure many local children get the right start, and an important fresh start, for a new school year. Our employees treasure this month of every year and are continually amazed at hour our community steps up to help those in need.

In 2013, we felt so positively about this program, that we have worked to extend our “Stuff the Bus” culture beyond the school year. We stand committed to continuing the annual school supply drive, but now we also have our own First Capital Bank “Stuff the Bus” travelling among our branches to benefit other charities and organizations. We are excited to see how this effort grows in 2013 and beyond, and how we can continue to grow as a community partner.

As a team, First Capital Bank employees have also had the privilege of serving the community through participation with the groups listed below, all of which make Central Virginia a great place to be.
